My name is MingLee. I am an 18 year old ShiTzu. Yes, you read right 18. My people Mom and Dad raised me from 6 weeks of age. They have really spoiled me. Last year, they adopted my big brother from the SPCA. He takes very good care of me and I really love him. I must say, I am very bossy with him and he does put up with a lot from me.. He even lets me take biscuits right out of his mouth. I know that isn't very nice, but I do have to make sure he knows that even though I am much smaller than he is I am still the boss.
Now it is my turn
My name is Pal. My people Mom and Dad adopted me two years ago from the SPCA, and I was so happy to have a new home though I was quite scared at first as my previous home was not a good one. My meeting with my new sister was a real experience. She showed me who was boss right away, but I didn't mind. She was so cute. I love watching over her.
Ming and I both hope that you have enjoyed reading a little bit about us and will visit the rest of our pages.
We thought we would bring you up to date on what is going on in our doggie world.
Ming has had her problems with arthritis and could hardly walk. Our people mom took her to a new doctor and he put her on a medication, that really did the trick for her. In just a few days after starting on this she is able to run and jump around like a youngster. She even plays with me now.
Now as for me. I just kept getting fatter and fatter (I know a lot of you humans can relate to this). I really did not eat that much but have to admit I did get more than my share of snacks.
My people mom had tried everything the doctor said about changing food and all that good stuff but nothing seemed to help. I had all kinds of blood work done but they said there wasn't anything wrong.
It was time for my yearly checkup and license so I also got to go to the new doctor. First thing he said was I had to lose 30 lbs. (now that was embarassing) or I might have a heart attack. This really scared my mom. She told the doctor what I ate and that all snacks had been stopped but I still kept gaining. He suggested doing blood work to rule out that it was a medical problem. Mom decided to go ahead and have him do the blood work over and in the meantime get my records of my previous blood work. Two days later the doctor called and said it was a medical problem and that I had no thyroid. The previous test never checked for thyroid being the problem. I am now on medication and go and get weighed every two weeks (just like weight watchers). I am losing a little over a lb. a week. Mom and I are so happy we found our new doctor.
It is with great sadness, that I must write that Pal (bestpal) and Minglee have both crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Pal in January,2005 died of a massive heart attack in a matter of minutes. Minglee at the age of 22 went to sleep in March,2005.
They have joined their beloved Poppa who passed away in February.2005.
It is my sincere hope that you will still enjoy reading about them.
